I don’t think there was much doubt: after the monumental success of ‘Final Fantasy VII Remake’ and the one we already intuited from ‘Rebirth’, Square Enix is already working on the final episode of the trilogy. But of course, beyond the character modeling, they don’t have anything yet, so we have to wait. In fact, the production company has stated that it is currently in the same state as the second part was when the first one was released. If it took them four years, let’s hope you still want to play in 2028, including a generational change.

For now, we only know that the script has already progressed and they are brainstorming how to introduce some new parts of the plot. Take it as you want. They have a tentative first draft that they will then have to modify and improve as the game develops. It’s good news, of course, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that in 2025 we will still be talking about this unnamed game.

The good thing is that we are pretty sure (although in this industry you never know) that there won’t be a fourth part. Yes, we will have remasters of the remakes, with imperceptible improvements at this point, but the story will be completely told. Another thing is that afterwards the team doesn’t start working on ‘Final Fantasy VIII’. Whatever it takes so that we don’t look at the sales of ‘Final Fantasy XVI’ and the doubtful future of the franchise, after all.
