The Apple Pencil is one of the most beloved accessories within the Apple community. For many of us, this stylus has become an indispensable everyday companion, perfect for note-taking, drawing, and anything else you can think of. Its seamless integration with the iPad has made them excellent productivity tools, especially for artists.
The last time we saw a revision of the Apple Pencil was in 2018, and since then, there hasn’t been any news about a new one – until now. Recent leaks indicate that, after so many years, Apple might be developing the long-awaited third generation of the Apple Pencil.
According to the report from user @MajinBuOfficial’s X account, the new third-generation Apple Pencil would include a very interesting feature: interchangeable tips.
Specifically, there would be three tips, each designed for different stroke styles: one for drawing, another for technical drawing, and the last one for painting. Additionally, these alleged new tips would attach to the pencil through a magnetic system. If this turns out to be true, there would be no need to fit or screw the tips, as we have been doing until now.
Certainly, this is very good news, especially for artists and illustrators. Although the second-generation Apple Pencil already possesses incredible stroke sensitivity, the new tips would further enhance our drawing experience.
These rumors also closely follow recent findings in the iOS 17.1 beta, where hints of a new Apple Pencil with USB-C can be inferred. In this case, messages found in the software suggest things like “connect to USB-C to recharge soon,” referring to the Apple Pencil.
