Yes, the latter is truly annoying and is an endemic issue in the business. Netflix and similar services keep buying new rights to movies and series while losing content from their libraries.

Today, we talk about the best movies leaving Netflix this October, and they are neither few nor insignificant. In some cases, we’re talking about award-winning films. Without further ado, here are the top five movies bidding farewell to Netflix.

The best movies leaving Netflix in October

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off (1986)

When thinking about classic movies from the 80s, John Hughes’ “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” tops the list. Matthew Broderick plays Ferris Bueller, a charismatic and popular senior high school student who decides to skip school one last time before graduating.

By faking an illness, Ferris convinces his best friend Cameron Frye (Alan Ruck) and his girlfriend Sloane Peterson (Mia Sera) to join him for a day of mischief.

While Ferris enjoys his day off, the school dean, Ed Rooney, tries to expose Ferris’ lies and catch him playing hooky. “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off” is the kind of movie where just watching one scene is enough to make you smile for the rest of the day.

Cliffhanger (1993)

In the early 90s, Sylvester Stallone was on a downward spiral. Once considered the top action star of the 1980s, Stallone faced a series of failures between 1990 and 1992: “Rocky V,” “Oscar,” and “Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot.”

In 1993, Stallone began the revival of his career with two movies: “Demolition Man” and “Cliffhanger.” Directed by Renny Harlin, “Cliffhanger” features Stallone as Gabe Walker, a former mountain rescue expert who quits his job after failing to save his coworker and best friend Hal Tucker’s girlfriend.

When Gabe returns to work eight months later to collect his belongings, he joins a mission led by Hal and Hal’s girlfriend Jessie to rescue a group of hikers who sent out a distress signal.

However, Gabe and Hal discover that the distress signal was fake and had been sent by a group of criminals searching for 100 million dollars in briefcases scattered throughout the mountains after their plane crashed. Channeling his inner John Rambo, Stallone becomes a one-man wrecking crew.

Reservoir Dogs (1992)

The movie that introduced Quentin Tarantino to the world was “Reservoir Dogs,” a 1992 crime film about a heist gone wrong. Six criminals are recruited by Joe Cabot to carry out a diamond robbery. However, the heist turns into a disaster.

Mr. Brown is killed, Mr. Orange is shot, Mr. Blue disappears, and Mr. Blonde kills several civilians.

In the warehouse where they gather, the surviving gangsters realize that the heist was a setup and set out to find the traitor within their group.

Not only is it one of the most ambitious debuts, but “Reservoir Dogs” stands among Tarantino’s best films, showcasing the director’s characteristic style that fans love: excellent dialogue, violence, and non-linear storytelling.

Pride and Prejudice (2005)

Matthew Macfadyen became famous in the 2020s thanks to “Succession,” but before that, in 2005, he was attempting to court Elizabeth Bennet (Keira Knightley) as Mr. Darcy in “Pride and Prejudice,” directed by Joe Wright. This 2005 film is an adaptation of Jane Austen’s iconic novel set in late 18th century England.

Elizabeth, the second of five daughters, is pressured by her parents to find a suitable, wealthy husband. However, the rebellious and free-spirited Elizabeth prefers to marry for love.

Elizabeth eventually meets the wealthy Mr. Darcy (Macfadyen), who could be a potential suitor if they ever learn to get along. If you want to see true chemistry on screen, this is your movie.
