Windows 11, the latest operating system from Microsoft, continues to evolve and improve by leaps and bounds. Although it has not yet surpassed its predecessor, Windows 10, in adoption rate, its innovations are attracting more and more users worldwide. It is no surprise that one of the main protagonists here will be artificial intelligence.
Through what may seem like simple changes, we will find several quite interesting innovations that surely many will use in their day to day. However, although most of them are still in development, some features are accessible through the Windows development channel. However, you should keep in mind that this is not a stable version of Windows 11 and it may have many errors.
Here below we leave you some of the most outstanding news that Windows 11 will see throughout the year:
USB connection up to 80 Gbps
Microsoft wants to make Windows 11 compatible with the latest USB standard of 80 Gbps. This would double the current standard of 40 Gbps and pave the way for the arrival of displays or storage systems that could take advantage of it. Currently, the 80 Gbps is already supported by devices like the Razer Blade 18, which also integrate Intel’s 14th generation HX series processors. The update would also allow previous generations of USB and Thunderbolt to achieve this speed.
AI-powered Notepad
The Notepad, an everlasting application within Windows, will integrate with artificial intelligence to become more capable. Specifically, we will have a kind of “assistant” that will act as a “co-creator” thanks to the functionalities of ChatGPT. The use of text generation will be based on a system of credits: each employed prompt will consume a “token”.
Copilot activates when Windows starts
As expected, in 2024 we will see many news related to Copilot. One of them involves the assistant being able to understand the content displayed on the screen and communicate with other applications. On the other hand, Microsoft is already testing an improvement that will make Copilot activate automatically every time we turn on our Windows 11 device.
More options to share content on other platforms
We will see this improvement in the browsers (Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome). From there, we can take advantage of the shared window in Windows to share links to other platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, X, Gmail, and LinkedIn.
Weather predictions on the lock screen
The lock screen adds more information for the user, and in this case, it is related to weather. Now, we can quickly check the weather forecast even before logging into our device. And if you want to know more, you just have to hover over the forecast. If you click on it, it will take you to MSN Weather. However, for now, it is only available for residents of the United States and it will be in English.
Improved Voice Access
Voice access also improves, with support for more languages (French, German, and Spanish) and a new multi-screen functionality. Those users who need it will be able to use their voice to control everything that happens on their device. Voice shortcuts will be used to perform any type of action. In fact, you can even activate a chain of actions.
To access the voice commands window, we just have to speak to our device and exclaim: “What can I say?“. From here we can create shortcuts of all kinds, although we already have some pre-made ones, such as “Open file” or “Click with the mouse”, for example.
