It is one of the games with more personality and fans that we can remember in the last decade. At least within the indie sector. Because although the game is published by Bandai Namco, the development was until now part of the small studio Tarsier Studios.

Little Nightmares 3 was initially announced in October 2021, but things have been pretty quiet since it was first talked about.

After two years of waiting, the game received its first teaser trailer at Gamescom Opening Night Live in August, and we already have enough information to start getting an idea of what this indie game will be like when it arrives next year.

Release date and consoles where we will be able to play Little Nightmare 3

The release date for Little Nightmares 3 is more of a release window, as the official website states that the game will be released in 2024, but offers no further details.

That said, the original game was released in April and the second one in February, so we’re inclined to think that a Q1 release date would fit this pattern, but that’s just our guess.

Although we still don’t have a release date, we do know what platforms the game will be available on and, surprisingly, it won’t be limited to next-gen consoles.

You can play Little Nightmares 3 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. Come on, it won’t be for platforms.

What is Little Nightmare 3 about? Here is the synopsis

With only one trailer and not much more information available, there’s still a lot we don’t know about Little Nightmares 3. However, that one trailer hints at a surprising amount of information that we can dissect by getting to know the saga well.

The story follows two new protagonists named Low and Alone, both with different abilities that will help you in your experience with the game. While we don’t know the backstory of these characters, we expect more to be revealed as we get closer to the game’s release date.

Both characters are armed with a weapon exclusive to them, and you will be able to choose which character you want to play with, which is a first for the franchise.

While we don’t know much about the backstory of these characters, we do know that they work together to escape the stage and, like Monkey and Six in Little Nightmares 2, we expect the duo to support each other when it comes to puzzle solving and combat.

At the moment it is unclear whether or not the character you choose will influence the development of the story, but it would be an interesting addition to expand the story of Little Nightmares, especially considering that Supermassive Games is the team behind this game.

Considering how the stories of Until Dawn and The Quarry, created by Supermassive, intertwine, it would be interesting if your actions also had a butterfly effect.

As for the setting, Little Nightmares 3 takes place in a new environment called “The Spiral,” which is described as a set of dystopian lands built on disturbed delusions. As we get closer to the end of the year, we expect more information about the setting to be shared.

Game genre and gameplay

Since Little Nightmares 3 is a horror adventure with platforming and puzzles, so we expect a lot of eerie gameplay. We only got a brief glimpse of the game’s content in the teaser trailer, but it seems to follow the same style as the previous two games.

As such, we expect the game to feature many of the traditional Little Nightmares mechanics, such as sneaking around enemies to solve puzzles in large environments, along with elements such as tense chase scenes and platforming through different areas.
