Christopher Nolan wants to do it again. While it seemed that nothing could mean a new challenge for him anymore, as he proved with Dunkirk, Interstellar or Tenet, the director of The Dark Knight has embarked again on a new big challenge with Oppenheimer. In his next film, he will tell the story of the physicist behind the atomic bomb, J. Robert Oppenheimer, and his trailer has just been released:

Starring Cillian Murphy, star of Peaky Blinders and regular collaborator of Nolan, the film will hit theaters on July 20, 2023. That is, coinciding with the release of the other summer blockbuster that everyone wants to see: Barbie.

The fierce fight between these two releases has given a lot to talk about, but beyond the meme, there is no doubt that Oppenheimer is going to be a new great cinematic event of height. Beyond Murphy, the film features actors such as Robert Downey Jr, Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Emily Blunt and Rami Malek. A luxury cast for a film that seeks to reflect on the most important phenomenon of the twentieth century.

A film that wants to make history

The film, in addition to the real events that took place, is based on the book American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer, written by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin in 2005. And its official synopsis is as follows:

“J. Robert Oppenheimer is one of the iconic figures of the 20th century, a brilliant physicist who led efforts to build the atomic bomb for his country during wartime, and then found himself confronted with the moral consequences of scientific progress. In this masterful and acclaimed biography twenty-five years in the making, Kai Bird and Martin Sherwin capture Oppenheimer’s life and times, from his early career to his central role in the Cold War. This is biography and history at its most fascinating and deeply informative.”

Undoubtedly, Christopher Nolan wants to make his legend even bigger, and for that he has thrown himself into a new historical film that will feature such interesting characters as Albert Einstein. There is no doubt that what can come out of this is very interesting.
