Simulators are increasingly important within the gaming market. They have always been, it must be said, but in recent years they have enjoyed impressive popularity, largely driven by live streaming and the hundreds of content creators who play live. However, they are also opening doors in the job market, just ask the people behind American Truck Simulator or Euro Truck Simulator.

The key here is quite simple: there is a need for truck drivers to transport goods, and there are companies that can’t find anyone. That’s why Schneider National has opted for something straightforward: if there are so many players of American Truck Simulator, maybe some of them would be interested in driving a real truck.

The company has placed billboards within the game, encouraging users to consider these job offers. “We believe that people who enjoy the game may also enjoy the reality and want to drive with us,” said Kara Leiterman, Press Manager at the company, in a statement to Axios.

Now, why is this video game being used? Well, it’s quite easy to explain. In training tests for the program, many drivers “showed skills well above average.” When asked if they had driven a truck before, the response was that they had played American Truck Simulator in their life, and all those hours in the game had helped them develop those skills.

There’s no doubt that the title created by SCS Software, both in its U.S. and European versions, has had a significant impact. It may very well lead to an increase in truck drivers from now on.
