Pokémon has been winning hearts all around the world for over 20 years now, which is no small feat. Iconic characters like Pikachu have become symbols of modern culture. Each new release has contributed to keeping the Pokémon craze more alive than ever, including spin-offs like Detective Pikachu.
We already know that Detective Pikachu is making a comeback with a new installment, ‘Detective Pikachu Returns,’ and it’s finally arriving on October 6th. In the past June’s Nintendo Direct, we got a glimpse of a gameplay trailer for the title. Now, Nintendo has taken advantage of the Pokémon Presents livestream to premiere a fresh preview of Detective Pikachu Returns.
The video transports us once again to Ryme City, where Pikachu must investigate the disappearance of his partner, Harry Goodman. With a steaming cup of coffee, the Pokémon detective narrates the state of affairs in this new installment. Pikachu introduces us to our new partner, Tim Goodman (Harry’s son), and we also get to meet the rest of the Goodman family.
To solve the cases, Tim and Pikachu work in tandem: while Tim interacts with humans, Pikachu does the same with Pokémon. Alongside this mechanic, there’s the investigation notebook, where we can review all the clues and evidence we’ve gathered along the way. What did you think of this new trailer?
