These news were shared as part of the brief YouTube broadcast of Nintendo’s “MAR10 Day 2024”, a celebration that the Japanese company holds every year in honor of its flagship character, Mario Bros.
Nintendo packed a lot of news on this year’s Mario Day, including the announcement of the release dates for two classics that have been modernized for the Switch: Paper Mario: The Origami King and Luigi’s Mansion 3 HD.
Both titles were announced last fall during the Nintendo Direct. Paper Mario will be released first, on May 23, followed by Luigi’s Mansion on June 27, but both can already be pre-ordered in the Nintendo Switch store for €60.
What do we know about these games and more surprises
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door was first released for Game Cube 20 years ago, and Nintendo says that the new Switch version will have “refreshed graphics, and a set of additional changes that make the game easier than ever to enjoy.”
Luigi’s Mansion 2 HD, which you may remember as Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, was originally released for the 3DS in 2013. Now we are still waiting for the first Luigi’s Mansion to come out on Switch…
The broadcast also states that a new movie from the Mario universe will be released in 2026, by the same team at Illumination that created The Super Mario Bros. Movie. and they will make the new Zelda movie.
Finally, on March 12th, three more Super Mario titles from Game Boy will be added to the Nintendo Switch Online console.
