It’s certain: we have more Thor to look forward to. At least, that’s what Taika Waititi hinted at in the special book ‘Thor: Love and Thunder The Official Movie Special’, which is set to be released on September 19, 2023.

The latest film of the Norse god didn’t leave anyone indifferent. ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ received a lot of criticism from fans due to its subpar special effects and the treatment of Gorr, the God Butcher. Its blend of drama and comedy also left many puzzled, as they struggled to reconcile such a serious plot like Jane Foster‘s with the typical Marvel humor.

Taika Waititi has provided some insight into the upcoming Thor installment in the book ‘Thor: Love and Thunder The Official Movie Special’, published by Titan. Here, the director mentions that the next Thor adventure should continue delving into the character’s evolution and presenting challenges for him to overcome. Waititi emphasized that one of these major challenges could be the presence of a villain much stronger than Hela, Odin’s daughter and the Goddess of Death in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’.

According to Waititi, “I don’t think we should have a villain weaker than Hela. I think we need to step it up and have a villain that’s more formidable.”

The director is quite clear on this: Thor’s destiny involves facing increasingly crazy and bizarre creatures. Waititi believes that the character played by Hemsworth lends itself to showcasing on screen “big, imaginative, colorful, alien creatures and other things from different worlds.” He argues that this would align with the Thor from the comics and would be a more faithful representation of the character’s essence.

If Waititi eventually takes the reins of the future fifth Thor installment, we now have an idea of what to expect from his direction. For now, we’ll have to content ourselves with ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’, which is available for streaming on Disney+ and for purchase on Apple TV.
