The great advantage of Telegram over WhatsApp has always been privacy. The messaging service of Russian origin has always provided users with an extra layer of security that did not exist in the Facebook app. Until now.

WhatsApp DOWNLOAD

In the middle of the year we learned that WhatsApp on Android and iOS could incorporate a feature that would allow users to select a username.

The objective was to ensure that users did not have to share their number with other people and instead could search for the person with a username. Now, this feature also appears on the web version. This indicates that we could be approaching the launch.

A highly demanded layer of security by users

It should be noted that the feature appeared on WhatsApp in May and has not yet reached the stable version. Now, the feature is appearing on the web version of the service, but it is worth noting that it is still in development and will take some time before it finally reaches the beta and stable channels.

As you can see in the image, soon you will be able to create a username on WhatsApp Web. Of course, this feature is still in development and it will take some time before it is available to everyone, but the good news is that, once it is available, you will no longer have to worry about sharing your phone number as you can give your username and help people find you on WhatsApp with it.

I think this is one of the best steps WhatsApp has taken in a long, long time. I just hope that the development of this feature goes smoothly and that we can soon see it available on all platforms so that people can start using it right away.

In Telegram, this feature has been available for several years and users have always spoken wonders about it, as it allows us to protect our real identity from the rest of the world, which is very useful when we don’t trust the other person.
