WhatsApp is working on a new feature that will allow users to share their WhatsApp statuses on Instagram, similar to the option that allows sharing an Instagram story on Facebook. The feature is currently in development, and only screenshots from the WhatsApp beta for Android have been seen so far.

Discovered by WABetaInfo, the new WhatsApp feature will enable users to post their statuses on Instagram without leaving the messaging app, allowing them to simultaneously update their WhatsApp status and Instagram story with a single tap.

Currently, WhatsApp already allows users to directly share WhatsApp status updates on Facebook stories. With this upcoming feature, users will soon have the option to share their WhatsApp statuses on both Facebook and Instagram.

Certainly, similar to Instagram and the current settings for cross-posting between WhatsApp and Facebook, the option to share a WhatsApp post on Instagram will require user activation. This means that users’ WhatsApp statuses will only be automatically published on Instagram if they choose to do so, by going into Settings to enable the feature.

Just like with cross-posting between Facebook and WhatsApp, even after enabling this, users will have control over which status update they want to share on Facebook or Instagram stories. At any time, users will also have the option to turn off this setting.

The feature represents another step toward Mark Zuckerberg’s vision of multi-platform compatibility across all Meta apps. As of now, the release date for this feature is unknown, but considering it’s in beta phase, it’s likely to be launched in the coming months if everything progresses smoothly.
