Willy Wonka is one of the most popular characters of the famous children’s writer Roald Dahl. Turned into a movie icon thanks to Gene Wilder in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, a 1971 film whose plot was repeated by Tim Burton in 2005, Wonka has never ceased to be in our lives. And now he is back.

As announced last year, on December 15, 2023, we will have a date in theaters with Wonka, the new film about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, which tells the story of the chocolate master’s youth. Directed by Paul King, famous for the Paddington films, this time Wonka is played by Timothée Chalamet. The trailer has already been released and you can see it below:

Beyond Timothée Chalamet, the film has a spectacular cast. Hugh Grant plays Oompa-Loompa, looking quite funny as we have seen; Rowan Atkison is Priest and other top English actors such as Olivia Colman and Jim Carter also appear in the film.

The film’s synopsis also makes it very clear where the film is going: Willy Wonka has the best chocolate factory in the world, but he also produces sweets and candies of all kinds. What are the adventures behind this new story? Will he manage to surprise a child or two?

With a release scheduled for this Christmas, the film seeks to reconnect audiences with an already spectacular story, in a magical world where everything seems to be possible. With Chalamet in the lead role, attendance at theaters is assured, and it remains to be seen whether it will remain an anecdote or open new adaptations of Roald Dahl‘s world.
