We have talked about this series a few times. And it’s not for nothing. Starring the brilliant Gary Oldman, Slow Horses is one of those wonders that come along every now and then. And today you can binge-watch all three seasons.

The final of the third season aired on December 27th and offered a delicious and very stressful ending to what has been a spectacular season; the third season is currently at 97% on Rotten Tomatoes (Rebel Moon has 27%, for comparison).

The series is starring Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb, a truly horrible human being who is in charge of a motley crew of misfits from MI5. Hence the title: Slow Horses, in English.

What makes Slow Horses special

Each chapter is full of action, it is tremendously convoluted and often very funny, especially when Oldman appears on screen to bite the scenery and abuse his subordinates.

It’s an absolute bombshell, and this third season is often unbearably tense: it’s better to watch it now so you can binge-watch it instead of having to wait a week after particularly cruel cliffhangers.

The prestigious magazine Empire awards the third season with five stars, describing it as “a glorious low-fi subversion of traditional spy thrillers, focused on a marginalized band of the MI5’s least wanted.” It is “a beautifully crafted prestige drama that would be more than worthy of prime time on BBC One” and reason enough to subscribe to Apple TV Plus.

Rolling Stone says the third season is better than ever: “it’s the kind of series that, if you mention the title to someone who watches it, their face will light up and they won’t stop talking about it for at least three minutes.” And Vogue describes the third season as a “kinetic and escapist delight”.

The three seasons of Slow Horses are now available for streaming on Apple TV+, and at the end there is an exciting trailer for the fourth season. It is scheduled for December 2024, so you have plenty of time to catch up.
