Missing Rayman? You’re not alone… and it might be resolved soon

As long as the Rabbids come to an end, we're fine with it.

Since the Rabbids were born in 1997, Rayman has taken a back seat to the loudmouthed rabbits. Fortunately, the platforming hero has been able to deliver two masterpieces with ‘Rayman Origins’ and ‘Rayman Legends.’ And then, silence. At least until August 2023 when he starred in the third DLC of ‘Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope.’ Luckily, it wasn’t a hoax, and it seems we’ll have more Rayman in the future… hopefully.

Many rabbits, little fun

The truth is that this sequel to ‘Mario + Rabbids’ has been a sales failure, and certainly, it can’t be attributed to the lack of popularity of the plumber, especially this year. So, you have to put two and two together and deduce that the Rabbids need a well-deserved break. Perhaps, Rayman could fill their place in Ubisoft’s less serious games.

Davide Soliani, the creative director of ‘Sparks of Hope,’ shares the same opinion: in an interview with Nintendo Everything, he said that if given the opportunity, he would rush to provide his vision for the game. Otherwise, he would be ‘crazy.’ ‘Rayman is the type of game that has no real elements. And since there’s no realism, everything you create in the game comes from your imagination and that of the team,’ he said.

For me, as a developer, it’s the pinnacle of all possibilities. You can go crazy and create your own world, as we did in ‘Sparks of Hope.’ “I think I would be crazy not to seize the opportunity if given to me.” There’s another twist in the story because Soliani, more than 20 years ago, worked on the Game Boy Color version of the character, which is about to turn three decades in the gaming consoles.

We should celebrate it in some way, shouldn’t we, Ubisoft? How about letting someone who is eager to try make their version of Rayman? Please?
