DID YOU KNOW?

Did you know that the first racing game in existence actually involved spaceships rather than cars? Back in 1973, Space Race was released, an arcade video game by Atari. The game places two players competing using their own respective spaceships. The opposing players start at the bottom, working their way to the top of the screen whilst simultaneously avoiding asteroids coming from the left. Points are then earned for every time a player reaches the top. A winner is determined by the number of points once the timer runs out.

Presently, a lot of racing games are now offered in plenty of gaming platforms, from handheld mobile devices to non-portable systems like a PC. The genre also offers multiplayer features, both online and offline, and can support at least 2 or more players. The setting of every game varies from modern vehicles to futuristic hovercars, all traveling through different terrains and racetracks. The Need for Speed franchise is among the most popular car racing games for PC and are also available for other devices. With new and innovative ideas for racing games couple with the ever-growing popularity of cars, it's safe to assume that the racing game genre won't be going away anytime soon.
