VSDC Free Video Editor
Windows' built-in Movie Maker application has seen great improvements over the years and would probably suffice for some simple movie-making and video editing needs. For everyone else that needs a bit more functionality, here are some of the best alternatives to Windows Movie Maker.
VSDC is a non-linear free video editor. This software helps you visualize your creativity. VSDC supports all the most popular codecs, filters and video formats.
Video editor software is everywhere now, and a program really needs to stand out if it's going to catch the hearts and minds of potential users. With that said, there's not much here to separate it from the pack. I wasn't impressed and I couldn't find any reason to use it over any of the numerous free solutions I have already used and know exist. More

The interface of this software is terrible. It makes doing simple things really hard to do. It suffers from the problem a lot of open source projects do: UI designed by programmers. The functionality is there, but it's so hard to learn that I would keep using Windows Movie Maker, or find a cheap copy of Adobe Premire. More
