Starfield is succeeding in its early access period. The latest title from Bethesda, the creators of Skyrim, has received great reviews from almost all media outlets, with an average score of 88 among specialized critics.

So far, only owners of the Premium or Constellation editions, as well as the press and various influencers who receive game codes for their reviews, have been able to play Starfield. The rest of the users will have to wait until September 6th when the game is officially released.

However, even though the purchase of Bethesda by Microsoft was arguably one of the biggest industry news of the last decade, it seems that there are some quite clueless individuals who still haven’t realized that Starfield is a Microsoft console exclusive.

Matt Frary, the director of public relations at Bethesda, commented this past weekend that some critics privately requested Starfield codes for the PlayStation 5, a console that, unless a miracle (in the literal sense) happens, will never receive this game developed by the Microsoft-owned studio.

“Now that it’s the weekend… a shoutout to the small handful of critics who non-ironically asked for a PS5 code. I may not have responded, but know that you made me laugh,” Frary said on his Twitter account.

The exclusivity of Starfield on Microsoft’s consoles has been a subject of dispute in recent days among many Internet users who wielded the game as a weapon in a senseless console war that benefits no one.

The situation reached such an extreme that several analysts from specialized media, such as Alejandro Castillo from MeriStation or Paula García from Eurogamer, have received all kinds of insults and even death threats in recent days for the “low scores” they assigned to Starfield in their reviews.

It’s a ridiculous and completely toxic situation that has no place in a society where freedom of expression exists.
