We will no longer have to unlock the heroes of Overwatch 2 through the Battle Pass or buy them: now, they will all be available to players for free.

Starting from Season 10, players will be able to unlock all Overwatch characters for free, including those that will be released in the future. These changes will also affect Venture, the latest hero to join Activision Blizzard’s FPS.

The developer has also confirmed that new players will still have to complete the user experience for the first time and unlock the heroes from the original Overwatch. Once this is done, the heroes from Overwatch 2 will all become available. This is made clear by Aaron Keller, game director, in the latest update uploaded to YouTube.

This turn of events has also brought news when it comes to obtaining mythic skins. Overwatch 2 will introduce a new Mythic Store, the place where players will have to go to unlock the most special (and expensive) appearances of their favorite heroes. These skins can be obtained as the player progresses in the Battle Pass.

The arrival of Season 10 will also allow players to earn coins as they progress, either in the free phase of the Battle Pass or the paid one. Per season, we will now earn between 540 and 600 free coins.

According to The Verge, Blizzard also plans to release two new maps when Overwatch 2’s Clash mode is launched later this year. In addition, Season 11 will add a map set in Peru, the world of Illari and the Into Warriors, along with a renovated Colosseum map.

Currently, you can play Overwatch 2 for free on PlayStation, Xbox, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
