Some offers leave a lot to be desired.

Amazon's worst Prime Day deals

Amazon Prime Day is the topic of the day in networks (if we don’t count a certain TV debate). Suddenly, my Twitter feed is full of tweets from people recommending Amazon deals on everything from video games to DIY. This is an event where we can find real bargains and save a few euros, which we will need to pay the electricity bill this summer.

But not all Amazon Prime Day offers are very good. As usually happens in this type of events, many brands and sellers do “their own thing” and, if you dig a little, you end up realizing that their offers are not as good as they seem or directly border on deception. Here are the worst deals I’ve found on Amazon Prime Day.

LG 42LX3Q6LA TV

When summer arrives, many people are looking for TV deals everywhere. Whether to play video games while on vacation in the best possible resolution or to have a good screen on which to watch soccer next season, TV purchases skyrocket in these months, and it is very common to find very interesting offers.

But, among quite succulent offers, we find some that seem more than they really are, such as the LG 42LX3Q6LA TV. At €1883.28 and a RRP of €2,999, most people will think it’s the bargain they were looking for, but, after looking at the price history, we can see that the usual price of the TV during these months was €2309.22 and that it was as low as €1929 for several days earlier this month. Yes, it is a bargain, but from the €1100 that people expect to save to the €50-350 they will actually save, there is a big gap.

TP-Link Archer AX53 Wi-Fi Router

I don’t know about you, but in my house I have horrible Wi-Fi coverage. Searching the Internet, I ended up seeing that the problem is that the router they gave us lacks antennas, so the signal amplification is quite poor. In this situation, I usually look at routers with good signal amplification every so often to buy one when they are well priced.

After seeing the TP-Link Archer AX53 at €59.99, with an RRP of €89.99, many may think it is a bargain, but nothing of the sort. While it is the lowest price it has been, its usual price during all these months has been €69.99, and it has only returned to its RRP in recent days, before Prime Day. Nothing like a sudden price increase to make the subsequent offer seem much juicier, right?

Taurus Sirocco 18 fan

Amazon Prime Day coincides precisely with one of the worst heat waves in the history of Spain. Under these circumstances, many people who do not have any ventilation device at home or want to find a better one are looking for fans and air conditioners as if there were no tomorrow (almost literally).

In this search for devices that allow us to breathe air without burning our lungs, I found the Taurus Sirocco 18, a fan of blades that are placed on the floor. At €72.90 and with an RRP of €80.27, the offer in itself is already quite poor, but that’s not all. Looking at the history, we find that it was at this same “sale” price from June 20 until a few days before Prime Day began, at which point it went up to €82.64. Yes, this tactic is much more common than you think.

Dometic Coolfreeze CDF 18 cooler

Along the same lines as the fans, this summer’s heat wave is motivating more than one person to buy a cooler. Yes, the old coolers that we used to take to the beach are fine, but an electric cooler is a great idea if you plan to have a barbecue with your friends and want to keep the bottles cold.

Looking through the Prime Day offers, I could find the portable refrigerator Coolfreeze CDF 18 of the Dometic brand. Starting from a RRP of €479, the offer lowers the price to €358.91. It seems a good offer, but after inspecting its price history, we find that its usual price for more than a year is €378-399, and that we would only save about €18, starting from its price before Prime Day. An offer that has left me quite cold, no doubt.

Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation

I must be honest with you: I went to see this offer out of pure curiosity. I mean, at the moment I’m not thinking of giving this wonderful device brought from the future to any of my friends (not out of shame, but because most of them already have it), but I was curious to see if there was a good offer. True story, the real good one.

The Satisfyer Pro 2 Next Generation, a very popular clitoral suction device, is on sale on Prime Day. At a price of €29.99 and starting from an RRP of €47.78, the offer doesn’t look bad at all. But after what I’ve shown you, you’ll already know what the deal is all about, won’t you? Taking a look at its history, we see that its usual price from May until yesterday was €32.07, so if you buy it with the offer you will save only €2.08. Satisfyer, please.
