The Apple Vision Pro created quite a buzz since they were introduced, although not exactly for the reasons Apple had hoped. Their exorbitant price sparked a lot of controversy, reaching the point where Apple is preparing a trimmed-down version of the Apple Vision Pro to lower its price and expand its audience.

The price of the Apple Vision Pro continues to be a topic of discussion, and it’s not surprising. Given the current path and pricing in the Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality devices market, many people were taken aback that Apple wanted to enter that market with a $3,500 pair of glasses. That’s why they quickly set out to create a low-cost version, but the term ‘low cost’ will remain relative, as indicated by the latest reports.

Economic, but not much

As indicated by expert Mark Gurman in Bloomberg, the trimmed-down version of Apple Vision Pro does not yet have a fixed price, but it is estimated to be in the range of $1,500 to $2,500. This figure still remains light-years away from what is expected in the segment. After all, this is a device whose functions are difficult to justify at such a high price.

In fact, just for reference, we have the recently launched Meta Quest 3 for 499 euros, or Sony’s PlayStation VR 2 for 599 euros, a price much lower than the lower end of the estimated price range for the “low-cost” version of Apple Vision Pro. Additionally, there is also talk of significant cuts compared to the main version, taking away some of its major attractions.

Other issues with Apple Vision Pro

Additionally, its prohibitively high price is not the only issue with these Apple Vision Pro glasses. Some users who are currently testing them (they won’t be released until 2024) have reported that the weight of the glasses is excessive and leads to neck pain when worn for extended periods.

However, it’s not all negative for a product with such technological potential. In fact, developers have shown great interest and satisfaction in creating software specifically for Apple Vision Pro, thanks to the creative possibilities it offers.
