Tom Hanks and Steven Spielberg are crazy World War II buffs, and after Saving Private Ryan they decided to pursue stories, as producers, that would continue to bring back this great war through series. The first of these was Blood Brothers, recently released on Netflix, and in 2010 they returned with the award-winning The Pacific.
Now, Hanks and Spielberg are back with a new miniseries, in this case of ten episodes, to be released on Friday, January 26, 2024: The Masters of the Air. This time, the fiction has a new allied platform, Apple TV+, which has shown in recent years that it is ready to end Netflix’s supremacy in the streaming market. And Los amos del aire is its biggest bet in the near future.
A war series with top-notch protagonists
The Masters of the Air takes us to the true story of a group of American bombers during World War II. Specifically, the story is based on the nicknamed “Bloody Hundredth,” who made history with their exploits. As the 100th bomber group of the 8th Air Force, this group has a gripping story that Spielberg and Hanks couldn’t resist telling.
The stars of the nine-episode miniseries are two of Hollywood’s hottest actors, who competed last year for the Oscar: Austin Butler and Barry Keoghan. They are joined by Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Branden Cook and Ncuti Gatwa.
The series is based on the book of the same title written by Donald L. Miller, who echoed the statements of the survivors of this Bloody Hundredth to tell their story in detail. Screenwriter John Orloff has adapted the book for the television platform.
