Apple continues with its changes to comply with the Digital Markets Act in Europe. One of them will be the restructuring of the App Store. In addition, this will be accompanied by the departure of Matt Fisher, vice president of the App Store, who will leave his position in October.

This restructuring will cause the company to divide the team responsible for managing the App Store into two. According to Bloomberg, one part will be in charge of the App Store itself, while the other will focus on alternative stores that operate within Apple devices. Let’s remember that the Digital Markets Act requires allowing third-party app stores and other alternative payment methods.

Fischer will leave his position after more than a decade at the helm of the App Store. “This has been on my mind for some time, and as we are also reorganizing the team to better manage new challenges and opportunities, now is the right time to pass the baton to two outstanding leaders from my team.” Fischer explains this in an email published by Bloomberg, and later shared it on LinkedIn.

Those two leaders referred to are Carson Oliver, senior director at Apple, and Ann Thai, product director of the company. Oliver will be in charge of the App Store, while Thai will be responsible for alternative app distribution.
