Astro Bot is one of the most fun and powerful games on PlayStation 5. In our analysis, we made it clear that if it’s not the GOTY of 2024, it’s close to it, a must-have of this generation. And for that reason, we are celebrating today.

Team Asobi has just released the first DLC level of Astro Bot as a completely free update. And what’s even better, there will be more in the coming weeks.

Announced in an official post on the PlayStation Blog written by director Nicolas Doucet, it is confirmed that the first speedrun DLC level, Building Speed, is now available and should appear in the game in the next update. In this new level, you will use the bulldog Barkster booster to launch Astro through boxes and platforms.

Additionally, the director of Astro Bot confirms that during the next month, four more speed challenge levels will be released, one per week. The release schedule is as follows:

  • October 17: Construction Speed
  • October 24: Let Yourself Go
  • October 31: Spring Race
  • November 7: Helium Heights
  • November 14: Rising Heat

Since these are speedrun levels, the goal is, naturally, to complete them as quickly as possible. To achieve this, the Asobi team has added a new online leaderboard, so you and your PlayStation friends can have fun seeing who completes each stage the fastest.

In Building Speed, players will encounter friendly versions of the Helldivers and EVE from Stellar Blade. Doucet hints that there will be more cameos in future levels, but, understandably, he doesn’t reveal who they might be for now.
