Apple is developing smart glasses with artificial intelligence, under the code N50, which promise to analyze the environment and provide information to the user.
Although the project is in an early stage of development, the well-known analyst Mark Gurman has indicated that the company could be aiming for a launch in 2027.
However, it is important to note that the schedule may experience delays due to the tariff-related challenges Apple is facing, creating uncertainty about the official release date.
Apple aims to revolutionize wearable technology with the N50 smart glasses
Apple’s glasses are expected to share similarities with Meta’s models, such as the Ray-Ban glasses, which feature a camera, microphone, and speakers, but Apple’s approach would differ in several key aspects.
Instead of offering a complete augmented reality experience, the new smart glasses will focus on turning environmental information into useful data for users, although they are not expected to become fully augmented reality products.
This launch is part of a broader initiative by Apple to diversify its catalog of smart wearable devices. In addition to the glasses, the company is also working on the production of AirPods equipped with a camera, another device that is in development and could be presented alongside the glasses within the same timeframe.
Although little is known about the final design and specifications of the glasses, they seem to be in line with the growing trend towards wearable intelligence.
Gurman also mentioned that, although the device is not yet ready for commercialization, Apple is working at a rapid pace to make this ambitious project a reality. With the recent success of other products like the iPad Air with M3 chip and the iPhone 16e, the pressure is on Apple to maintain the innovation momentum that its users expect.
