The Elder Srolls Online, LEGO: The Hobbit and 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil will grab our attention in April, but they’re not the only ones to watch out for

After a month of March madness devoted to the new generation of consoles, April might seem like a quiet month, with fewer releases and many games with versions for older consoles or PC.

The Elder Scrolls Online, the sagas’ first MMO, will finally be released, and we’ll also see great new games for all platforms except Wii U, which seems to be suffering from a slump we hope it’ll soon overcome.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Complete Edition – PS4, PS3, PS Vita (04.04)

One of the most prolific videogame sagas has a new chapter, or rather, a new version of a previous one. In this reissue of Dynasty Warriors 8, you can enjoy the original game and the sequel, Xtreme Legends, both based on the legends of the Three Kingdoms in China and the wars fought to control them.

The game is only suitable for devoted players or those new to the game, because Dynasty Warriors has hardly changed in the last few years.

The Elder Scrolls Online – PC, Mac (04.04)

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim was a smash hit. Instead of sitting back to enjoy their success or rushing to launch a sixth installment of the series, Bethesda decided to take a risk and join the dangerous world of MMOs, dangerous because it’s a genre where the success or failure of a game is unpredictable.

Although some gamers aren’t very excited about the game, we’ve already tried it out, and we like the mix between Skyrim adventures and online team playing. After two years of waiting, its finally time to see how users pick up the new game.

Kinect Sports Rivals – Xbox One (11.04)

After two installments for Xbox 360, Kinect’s most popular game finally makes its debut on the Xbox One. It keeps the same motion-based gameplay we know, like soccer and bowling, but it adds new sports such as climbing and jet skiing.

Although the motion controls were good on Xbox 360, they are much better on the Xbox One. Other improvements include the team building features and the power-ups system.

LEGO: The Hobbit – PC, Mac, PS4, Xbox One, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, PS Vita, 3DS (11.04)

The Hobbit trilogy will not end until later this year when the last movie is released, but it already has a LEGO adaptation. As always, we’ll live the story we already know but with a funny twist and, of course, all of LEGO’s trademark clichés.

For this release, the improved teamwork features and a building system that has evolved from what we saw in The LEGO Movie are the most noticeably new features.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn – PS4 (14.04)

The online version of Final Fantasy was released last August for PC and PS3. Now, PS4 gamers will also be able enjoy it, with improved graphics to show off the console’s potential.

If you like fantasy and role playing games, and you’ve already finished FF’s latest offline release, Lightning Returns, you’ll enjoy Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn.

Trials Fusion – PC, PS4, Xbox One, Xbox 360 (16.04)

It’s always nice to see modest but equally entertaining games stand out among the blockbusters, and that’s the case for Trials’ new release Trials Fusion, a motocross game where each stage is a great and stratospheric challenge.

There’s more fun to be had in this new version, because in addition to bikes, you’ll have to master quads. This time, even more users will be able to enjoy it because it’ll be released not only for Xbox 360, but also for PC and next-generation consoles.

2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil – PS3, Xbox 360 (16.04)

The newest version of FIFA is devoted to the 2014 World Cup. As always, it takes advantage of the engine of the previous FIFA game, and includes some new features so that we don’t feel like we’re playing with a simple FIFA 14 extra.

This time, it includes the new game mode Road to Rio, as well as some gameplay improvements including changes to the penalty system, which were highly criticized in FIFA 14.

Dark Souls II – PC (25.04)

The Windows version of Dark Souls II is another game that only comes out for PC after being released for consoles.

Although difficult, Dark Souls II is an incredibly rewarding experience that you must try if you consider yourself a hardcore gamer who’s not afraid of challenges.

Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All Star Battle – PS3 (25.04)

Based on Japanese manga, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure is a well-known fighting saga. In this new release, you’ll be able to control more than 40 different characters over eight plot lines.

If you like classic fighting games similar to Street Fighter, you will definitely enjoy Jojo.

Get ready for what’s coming in May

While there are some exciting releases this April, including The Elder Scrolls Online and 2014 FIFA World Cup, none of them are truly spectacular if you consider what’s to come in May. One of the most sought after games for the new batch of consoles, Watch Dogs, will be released, and we can barely wait.

What games coming out this month are you looking forward to try?

My first computer was an Amstrad CPC 6128 and so began my love for gadgets. Besides tech and games I love music (I'm a singer in two bands of swing, jazz and blues), cinema (watching and writing about it), gastronomy (cooking... but above all eating!) and alternative fashion. Do you follow the cult of The Rocky Horror Picture Show? Great, I'm sure we can get along.
