Watch out! Your thousand alarms might have gone off: How is it possible that Bethesda, twelve years after ‘Skyrim,’ has released a new ‘The Elder Scrolls,’ and you didn’t know about it? Has the whole world gone crazy? Don’t worry: yes, they have released a new game in the series. But no, it’s definitely not what you’re expecting. Brace yourself for the disappointment, and you’ll be right on target.
Skyrim Shelter
There wasn’t even a prior announcement in a time when there are announcements for even the new updates of ‘Pokémon Go‘. That’s what Bethesda was counting on when they made ‘Elder Scrolls: Castles’, an exciting mobile game where you won’t go on adventures to kill monsters, ride beasts, or explore a gigantic map. Instead, you’ll be a king who rules over his subjects while acquiring resources and making various decisions for the future of his kingdom.
If you live in the United States, you’re in luck because you can play it right now on your Android device since it’s available as early access on the Play Store. No news, however, about iOS… or the European release. On the other hand, you’re not missing out on much. Have you played ‘Fallout Shelter’? Well, it’s the same, but with a different face.
Throughout the game, you’ll have to build a grand castle, make people work for you, and explore different ways to acquire more resources. You can decorate them as you please, with more freedom than the ‘Fallout’ spin-off. The real question is whether this is what ‘Skyrim’ and the rest of the saga’s fans are looking for as they eagerly await the imminent – figuratively speaking – announcement of the sixth installment.
‘Elder Scrolls: Castles’ might not be the game fans were eagerly demanding, but the words “microtransactions” are too enticing to overlook and not capitalize on. Bethesda knows how to play the game.
