Netflix has just announced that it will reimagine the popular manga to create a new anime series. The ideal moment to reveal it was during the popular manga and anime convention Jump Festa 2024, held in Tokyo (Japan).

The series, titled The One Piece, is currently in production and the release date has not yet been revealed. Once again, Netflix once again bets on One Piece as its cornerstone of anime.

This is produced by the WIT studio, known for its work on successful animes like SPY x FAMILY and Attack on Titan, in collaboration with Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co.

What do we know about The One Piece

It promises to be “different” from the television anime series that has been on the air for over two decades, “to offer viewers a fresh, yet familiar experience, using cutting-edge visual technology to reimagine Luffy’s adventures through the beloved East Blue saga.”

Based on the manga title by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece follows the otherworldly adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore exotic islands and endless oceans in search of the ultimate treasure “One Piece” to become the next Pirate King.

And another announcement: Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation

Also on Sunday, Netflix announced that it will adapt another manga by Oda, Monsters 103 Mercies Dragon Damnation.

The series, which Oda created when he was only 19 years old, will be adapted for the first time in the upcoming anime, which will premiere in January.

The series follows Ryuma, a samurai entangled in a world disturbed by an ominous force: a dragon capable of unleashing catastrophic destruction upon the earth.

The new collaborations with Oda come after the successful live-action adaptation of One Piece on Netflix, which has already been renewed for a second season. The series achieved good results both in the United States and the rest of the world, which was a much-needed victory for Netflix in the realm of live-action anime.
