In a significant move for the electric vehicle (EV) sector, BYD has announced that its groundbreaking 1,000 kW fast chargers will be available to drivers starting next week.
This technology comes from the newly revealed Super E-Platform, which has been developed to support unprecedented charging rates capable of replenishing up to 400 km of range in just five minutes.
The Chinese auto giant’s ambitious plan includes the installation of over 4,000 ultra-fast charging stations across China.

According to Li Yunfei, BYD’s general manager of brand and public relations, 500 of these fast chargers are set to go live in early April, coinciding with the launch of new EV models like the Han L and Tang L, which integrate this innovative platform.
While this rapid deployment is exciting, BYD acknowledges that not all locations are equipped to handle the immense energy demands of such high-speed chargers.
To address this challenge, the company plans to install onsite energy storage facilities to support operations at these charging stations. This proactive approach aims to ensure that drivers can experience optimally fast charging, potentially reaching the full 1,000 kW rate.
Li Yunfei also stressed the competitive nature of the industry, highlighting that while BYD currently leads in several technological areas, they remain humble and ready for future advancements from other companies. He remarked that the electric vehicle market is broad enough to accommodate those equipped with superior technology and products, hinting at the inevitability of competition pushing the boundaries of innovation.
As the industry watches closely, BYD’s upcoming installations could set new standards for EV charging. Additionally, attendees of the Shanghai Auto Show next month will likely get firsthand experience of this cutting-edge technology, marking a new era in the electrification movement.
