Chicken Run was a film released in 2000 that drew inspiration from George Orwell’s 1984 to create a large-scale animated feature with a “claymation” style that delighted children of the time. It was a big hit at the time and managed to make an impact in an era when animation was mostly dominated by DreamWorks and Disney. However, the story ended there.

But that has just changed. Netflix has surprise-released the trailer for Chicken Run 2: Dawn of the Nugget. It’s the direct sequel to the first film, and even though it’s coming 23 years later, we couldn’t be more excited about it. The release date is set for December 15th, so it could be a perfect holiday treat for audiences of all ages.

A late but exciting sequel!

“The last time we escaped from a chicken farm. Now, we’ll infiltrate.” With this motivating phrase, the trailer for the Chicken Run sequel begins. It’s clear that after saving themselves, it’s time to save many more of their kind. But what does the exact synopsis say? Here it is:

After defying death in the risky escape from the Tweedy farm, Ginger has fulfilled her dream: a peaceful island reserve for the whole gang, far from the dangers of the human world. When she and Rocky have a little girl named Molly, Ginger’s happy ending seems definitive. But on the mainland, the chicken world faces a new and terrible threat. This time, Ginger and her friends, instead of escaping… are going to commit a break-in! Even if it means putting their hard-won freedom in danger.
