Es probable que haya otra clase de ataques ocultos detrás de este ataque

Cloudflare has announced that it mitigated a record volumetric DDoS attack that reached 11.5 terabits per second in just 35 seconds. This attack, which was classified as a UDP flood, primarily originated from Google Cloud and has highlighted the increasing use of malware-infected botnets by attackers.
An attack that hides other possible attacks
Volumetric DDoS attacks are designed to overwhelm a target with a massive flood of traffic, causing network congestion, packet loss, and service disruption. These phenomena can significantly degrade server performance, which can lead to failures and complete connectivity outages.
The security firm also warned that this attack was not only intended to cause chaos on the network, but could also be used as a “smokescreen” to carry out more sophisticated attacks. While security teams attempt to mitigate the volumetric attack, the attackers may launch additional attacks aimed at breaching defenses and stealing valuable data.
The report comes after a notable increase in hypervolumetric DDoS attack activity, which escalated from 700 incidents in the first quarter of 2025 to 6,500 in the second quarter of the same year. Cloudflare has been constantly working to keep its defenses active and effective against multiple attacks in a short period of time, thus reflecting the company’s ability to adapt to the growing threat of cyberattacks.
The growing sophistication and volume of these attacks pose a significant challenge for companies that rely on online connectivity, highlighting the importance of having robust security measures in today’s digital age.
