The series Daredevil: Born Again is presented as a continuation of the acclaimed Netflix series, maintaining a relatively independent narrative from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). And in its recent episode 5, the creation of a new superhero team is hinted at, which could be a reference to the Young Avengers, led by the young Kamala Khan (Ms. Marvel). But where does this theory come from?

Young Avengers, assemble?

The episode, which takes place during the St. Patrick’s Day celebrations, shows Matt Murdock (Daredevil) trying to obtain a loan for his law firm, where he works alongside Kirsten McDuffie. In this context, he meets Yusuf Khan, Kamala’s father, who proudly mentions his daughter and her current situation in California, hinting at a possible connection with new heroes.

The presence of Yusuf and his conversation with Matt is designed to keep the viewer informed about the next generation of heroes; it also suggests a move towards the introduction of these characters into the MCU. Although Born Again does not focus on Kamala, her bond with Yusuf during a bank heist reveals details about her family and lays the groundwork for her possible recruitment of new heroes as she seeks to form a team.

This aligns with the direction that the MCU seems to be taking, where the inclusion of younger characters could finally pave the way for the Young Avengers. Although the transition process to a new generation of heroes has been gradual, Daredevil: Born Again may have provided a significant push in this regard. In this context, it is likely that Kamala is recruiting future members for her team while Daredevil faces new challenges on his own.
