Discord is a very special platform for many of us. What once started as a service used by gamers to talk while playing online, gradually ended up opening to wider audiences and being used by all kinds of people.
Yes, 8 years later Discord is still “the app of gamers” and the use it is usually given is to talk about video games, but many also use it today to announce offers, talk about music, discuss political issues and much more, depending on the server and the content allowed.
If you are reading this article it is because, almost certainly, you are also a Discord user and you already think you have seen everything in this useful app. Well, believe it or not, Discord hides some pretty cool features that you might like.
The first of these hidden features is the ability to activate an AMOLED mode when we set Discord’s dark mode. This “alternative dark mode” is designed for mobile devices with AMOLED screens, and displays a different range of blacks and grays than the normal dark mode.
To activate the AMOLED dark mode of Discord, you will have to enter the mobile app, click on your profile picture in the bottom bar and go to Appearance. To view and activate this mode, you just have to press 10 times on the black circle that activates the dark mode. However, keep in mind that this is an experimental function and may give the occasional glitch.
Discord’s second hidden feature is none other than its new design. Yes, Discord has been working on its new mobile design for some time now and users have not been able to test it… until now.
To activate it, you only have to put in any channel of any server the glitter emoticon (✨), click on it and then press the big icon that will appear. Automatically the new Discord design will be activated.
Do you like the new design or do you prefer the classic one? Don’t worry, the best of all is that if you are not convinced by either of these two features, you can disable them at any time through the Appearance menu. Discord will never cease to surprise us.
