The Simpsons is an iconic series that has accompanied us for several decades. Created by Matt Groening, the television fiction triumphed in the late eighties and has since continued to populate screens all around the world. Moreover, it doesn’t seem like it’s going to end anytime soon.

However, considering that it has been on the air for so many years, it’s common for many gestures or scenes we have seen in this satirical series to have become somewhat outdated. That’s why, now that Disney is behind The Simpsons, it’s not surprising to see a few adjustments in the series, and the latest of them has been the censorship of one of Homer’s most iconic gestures.

Homer will no longer strangle Bart

Strangling Bart is something Homer has been doing since the first season. Making it clear that the boy’s rebellion deserves it, Homer loses his temper and chokes his son on multiple occasions. We have seen this gesture in almost every season, and although it became less frequent over the years, we all remember a moment of Homer strangling his son.

But this has come to an end. In the third episode of season 35, titled “McMansion Wife,” Homer humorously gives up on strangling Bart, revealing that “times have changed.” Therefore, we will not see Homer strangling his son or attacking him in any similar physical way again.

This is a change that seems quite logical considering the current moment and the fact that The Simpsons is intended for all audiences. However, not all fans have taken this declaration well, perhaps because some used it as a justification for their actions.
