It’s true, dear friends. Larian Studios has announced the long-awaited patch 7 for ‘Baldur’s Gate 3,’ which will be available in September of this year. This patch stands out mainly for the introduction of the official modding tools, a highly requested feature by players since the release of the popular title. Before the launch, a closed alpha of these tools will be held, followed by a closed beta in July.

The modding tools will be available first on PC, and shortly after mods will be downloadable on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. “The next major update for ‘Baldur’s Gate 3,’ coming in September, will also introduce an official toolkit to give Lae’zel a mullet. Sure, go ahead. You only live once,” said Larian in their announcement. The comment reflects the studio’s enthusiasm for allowing players to customize their gaming experience in creative and sometimes even extravagant ways.
Starting in September, fans of ‘Baldur’s Gate 3’ will be able to download game mods, whether they enjoy it on PC or consoles. This offers “PC gamers” an official way to create and install mods without having to resort to third-party software, and ensures that console players are not left out of this experience.

However, not all mods will be available on consoles. “On consoles, an additional selection process confirms which of these PC mods will be available for cross-platform support,” explained Larian. “Although not all PC mods will be available for consoles, we will make sure to publish guidelines to help you understand what kind of content will pass our necessary checks.”
Mods that do not have official support from Larian, such as those that change or add scripts, as well as NSFW mods, will not pass the review process. In addition, Larian is working on providing support to modders so they know if their mods are not compatible.
The announcement of the patch also mentions that Larian will take into account player feedback during the summer to polish the patch before its release in September. In addition, other improvements are being developed, such as an in-game photo mode, crossplay, and various fixes.
