Elon Musk is one of the most important figures today. The owner of Twitter (well, X), SpaceX, and Tesla is among the entrepreneurs and technologists who have revolutionized the world in recent decades, gradually earning a place alongside Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates, or Steve Jobs.

More polarizing than admired for his eccentricities and controversial political views, Musk intertwines his life as a would-be playboy with the mastery of his companies. So, it was only a matter of time before someone decided to make a movie about his life… what not many expected is that it would be Darren Aronofsky, the magnificent director behind Black Swan, The Whale, or Mother!, who would take on this project.

What will the movie about Elon Musk be about?

The movie about Elon Musk doesn’t seem at all like the typical rags-to-riches biopic portraying someone as a poor individual who rises to become a hero in their transformation into a successful entrepreneur. On the contrary, everything seems to suggest that it will take a critical look, much like David Fincher’s “The Social Network,” which depicted the life of Mark Zuckerberg.

The film will be based, as announced, on Musk’s authorized biography written by Walter Isaacson. This author previously wrote the biography of Steve Jobs, which was adapted in 2015 by Universal into the magnificent movie directed by Danny Boyle and written by Aaron Sorkin, starring Michael Fassbender. Thus, everything indicates that it will be a movie very much up to the myth it portrays… albeit not only in a positive light.

Who is behind the Elon Musk movie?

The director of the movie about Elon Musk will be Darren Aronofsky, the filmmaker behind huge hits like Black Swan or the recent The Whale. This gives a sigh of relief to the producers, who undoubtedly will be in good hands when it comes to carrying out the feature film.

The producer, on the other hand, couldn’t be better. It’s A24, the most acclaimed studio in current Hollywood, responsible for Everything Everywhere All at Once, The Whale itself, and Ari Aster’s movies. An independent studio that is gaining more and more prestige.

At the moment, we don’t know who will play the role of Elon Musk. There are no scheduled filming or release dates either, but everything seems to indicate that production will start soon.
