Emojis have become a fundamental part of our daily interactions, offering a fun and expressive way to communicate emotions and thoughts. Recognizing this trend, Apple has taken a step forward in iOS 17, transforming the way we use emojis in the Messages app. Now, emojis are not just characters we can insert into our texts, but they also function as stickers, providing us with more flexibility in our conversations.

How to use emojis as stickers

Using emojis as stickers in Messages is really simple. We’ll do it in a similar way to how we would already use other emojis. Specifically, we’ll do it like this:

  1. We open the Messages app and select or start a conversation.
  2. We press the emoji button at the bottom of the screen.
  3. We select the emoji we’re interested in and drag it into the conversation. Remember that we have to place the emoji over or next to a sent or received message.

Then, we can also delete them, if necessary. How? Simply hold down on the emoji and tap Sticker Details in the pop-up menu. Then, simply swipe to the left over the emoji and press the trash can button to delete it. When finished, just tap Done to return to the conversation.

Let’s also remember that the emojis we have used as stickers will be saved in the stickers section, which we can access by tapping the “+” button next to the text field in the messages. This way, we can easily use our most frequently used emoji stickers from there.

It’s a small change, indeed, but one that will undoubtedly liven up our conversations. With an ever-increasing number of emojis to choose from, being able to adjust their size, tilt, and appearance to our liking can be really helpful when communicating. As we’ve just seen, this is something we can do very easily.
