In a society that tends to overlook the elderly, the company ElliQ has designed a robot that, powered by Artificial Intelligence, provides service and emotional support to the most lonely elderly individuals, also offering a wide range of services as a voice assistant.
ElliQ is a system that, through the usual methods in voice assistants, responds to its interlocutor and provides emotional support through its AI, ensuring that the person or people around it feel more accompanied and happier.
Optimism and habit improvement
ElliQ’s system is programmed to, according to the specific health needs of each individual (heart disease, diabetes, etc.), provide routine recommendations focused on their health. Additionally, it will also strive to lift the spirits of its conversational partners through the feedback it offers in its dialogues, both through the lighting and movements of its head and the content of its words.
Moreover, ElliQ also takes care of scheduling certain daily habits that healthily help to activate users both physically and mentally. However, all the benefits of this system come at a cost, as it requires a monthly subscription of $60 per month (it’s a service for the United States).

The bright side of Artificial Intelligence
Many times, and rightfully so, the image that Artificial Intelligence often leaves is more than negative: job theft, job destruction, ease of committing crimes... However, there is still a positive side to these advances, as the support for the elderly, one of the biggest challenges in today’s developed society, is benefiting from this progress.
There are also many notable functions that AI is being approached from a positive perspective: for example, to facilitate the detection of diseases in routine medical check-ups or even for more mundane things like making users’ lives easier in workspaces, such as Copilot or Bard. Ultimately, it all remains as a tool whose purpose, whether positive or negative, depends on who uses it, and gradually, the more harmful uses of Artificial Intelligence are being limited.
