Episode 4 of The Penguin is one of the highest-rated in HBO’s history (and in series in general)

The Penguin continues to rise as one of the most outstanding series of the year, and the fourth episode has confirmed that it is not only on par with The Batman by Matt Reeves, but it may even surpass the movie. Titled Cent’Anni, the fourth chapter has premiered with an impressive rating of 9.7 on IMDb, making it one of the highest-rated episodes not only on HBO but in the history of series in general.

The highlight of this episode, however, is not so much Colin Farrell’s Oswald “Oz” Cobblepot as it is Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Falcone. Throughout the narrative, we have seen how this villain has her own authenticity within the series, but the fourth chapter has served to tell her story… and in what a way!

Cristin Milioti in a State of Grace

The plot of the fourth episode of The Penguin is divided into two timelines: the present, where Sofia seeks revenge against those who betrayed her, and the past, revealing her suffering when she was unjustly committed to Arkham Asylum, accused of crimes she did not commit. Milioti’s performance portrays a woman trapped in a personal hell, forced to face the cruelty of her family and the system. Undoubtedly, Milioti’s performance is already being considered for the Emmys.
