It’s getting closer! The new edition of Eurovision 2023 is practically just around the corner, as it were. Take note of this date: next May 13 will be when the winner of the 67th edition of the festival, to be held in the city of Liverpool, will be unveiled.

This year, we will hear 37 very varied songs ranging from ballads to electronic, dance and much more. And as any good Eurofan knows, any genre has a place on the Eurovision stage. After the great third place that Spain got in 2022 with Chanel and its SloMo, our country wants to return to the podium with Blanca Paloma. Will we get it again?

When are the semi-finals of Eurovision 2023?

Although the final of Eurovision 2023 will be broadcasted on May 13, the semifinals will take place before. The festival will be held between 9 and 13 May 2023 and in Spain will be broadcast by RTVE, so it will be seen in open on La 1. Thus, this is how the calendar would look like:

  • First semi-final of Eurovision 2023: Tuesday, May 9th
  • Second semi-final of Eurovision 2023: Thursday, May 11
  • Eurovision Song Contest 2023 Final: Saturday, May 13

It should be noted that the members of the Big Five will not have to undergo the judging of these semifinals as they go directly to the grand final. These countries are Spain, United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and France. This year the festival will also have a great novelty: it will be the first time that other countries outside Eurovision will be allowed to vote.

First semifinal: Tuesday, May 9

Who are the favorites for Eurovision 2023?

The truth is that Eurofans have been wondering for months who could win the first place this year. Blanca Paloma’s Eaea is one of the favorite songs to win Eurovision, but so are these others:

Tattoo, Loreen (Sweden)

Tattoo is undoubtedly the great favorite to win Eurovision 2023. As if that were not enough, Loreen does not come from new, as she won in the 2021 edition with her song Euphoria. With such a track record, all eyes (and ears) are on her performance.

Cha Cha Cha, Käärijä (Finland)

Käärijä presents us Cha Cha Cha, a very original song that swept the votes in Finland (it got more than 50% of the public votes). If all goes well for the artist, he could achieve the second victory of the country in Eurovision. Will he end up getting it?

Heart of Steel, Tvorchi (Ukraine)

This year, the duo Tvorchi was chosen to represent Ukraine with their Heart Of Steel. The pre-selection of this song was held in Vidbir and had to be performed in a bomb shelter due to the Russian invasion.

Évidemment, La Zarra (France)

La Zarra will perform on behalf of France and will delight us with Évidemment, a song composed by Ahmed Saghir, a duo that has written for artists such as Dua Lipa or David Guetta.

Eaea, Blanca Paloma (Spain)

Blanca Paloma pays a heartfelt tribute to her roots through the lullaby Eaea. Although this genre has not given great results to Spain in Eurovision, perhaps everything will change in the final.
