It seems that at Arrowhead Game Studios, creators of Helldivers 2, things are clear: for now, there will be no more than four players per squad. This limit has caused more than one problem among players, as there are those who want to fight against the Automatons or the Terminids in teams of up to 6 people. Despite this, Arrowhead clarifies that expanding this number could require too much work.

The team behind Helldivers 2 is clear: the limit of four players is ideal for their game and for now, they will not increase it. One of their CM, Thomas ‘Twinbeard’ Petersson, explains it through the official Discord channel: “I know that if we ever decide to go down that path, it would require too much work. If it really happens (and I’m not sure it will), it will be in the distant future.”

So, if you were expecting any updates related to squads and the number of members, we warn you to get rid of that idea. For now, it is very likely that Helldivers 2 will receive adjustments to the existing difficulties, new maps, and objectives to fulfill.

Starting today, Arrowhead is quite busy working on fixing bugs and creating new Warbonds for Helldivers 2, so experimenting with larger squads is not on their list of priorities.

Helldivers 2, an unexpected success

The truth is that Helldivers 2 has far exceeded Sony’s expectations, its publisher. In addition to receiving excellent reviews, the game has reached almost half a million simultaneous players on Steam. Such has been the reception of Helldivers 2 that during the past month of February, Arrowhead had to limit its access due to capacity issues on its servers. Starting today, you can play Helldivers 2 on PC, Steam Deck, and PlayStation 5.
