The Pokémon Presents event was filled with minor announcements, lacking any major reveals. This is understandable as it took place in August, where significant breakthroughs weren’t anticipated. They unveiled animation series, discussed the upcoming Pokémon World Championship, and revealed DLCs for the latest main games. However, beyond that, there was no noteworthy revelation. But that doesn’t mean fans haven’t searched for reasons to get excited. As the conspiracy theorists well know, those who seek causal connections tend to find them. A group of fans believe that during the Presents event, a clue was dropped hinting at the next Pokémon game that Nintendo will be launching.

Among the things showcased during the Pokémon Presents was a new Pokémon called Archaludon, a new evolution of the Pokémon Duraludon. The unique aspect is that Duraludon, first introduced in Sword and Shield, resembles a skyscraper, and its evolution resembles a modern bridge. The evolution carries a certain coherence, but it has a distinct characteristic that hasn’t gone unnoticed: it resembles a specific bridge from the world of Pokémon. Specifically, it resembles the Skyarrow Bridge, the main bridge in the Unova region, where Pokémon Black and White take place.

This has set off all kinds of alarms, leading players to speculate that the next Pokémon game might be a remake of the Black and White entries. This notion also makes sense. Remakes of Pokémon Black and White are the next games expected to be released within the traditional RPG series, and it’s actually quite common for the franchise’s games to drop subtle hints in previous titles before their official announcement.

Of course, the references don’t end there. One of the trainers showcased in the new trailer is named Drayton, a Dragon-type trainer, who could very well be related to Draygon, a Dragon-type gym leader from Pokémon Black. This connection isn’t far-fetched, given the similarity in names and the affinity for Dragon-type Pokémon.

In any case, we still don’t know what the future holds for the franchise. However, all signs point towards an upcoming remake of Pokémon Black and White on the horizon, rather than a new main series Pokémon game or a new Pokémon Legends title in the near future.
