Finally, there will be a new Rayman… and they assure us it won't be a remake!
If you heard a little scream of excitement, it was me

When asked about my favorite video game series, I debate between three: Phoenix Wright, Super Mario, and, of course, Rayman. Despite having only five games in its main series (excluding the infamous Raving Rabbids), the character has managed to perfectly balance nostalgia and innovation with wonders like Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. And now, eleven years after the last title, Ubisoft has started working on a new sequel. It was about time.
Let’s run!
Although things start off badly, because the statement came after the team of the new Prince of Persia was dismantled for not reaching the sales figures Ubisoft was looking for. It was then that some hinted that some members were now developing a Rayman remake, when Ubisoft wanted to clarify that yes, but no. In other words, at least it’s not a remake.
“We are pleased to confirm that Ubisoft Montpellier and Ubisoft Milan have begun an exploration phase in the Rayman brand. The project is in its early stages, and we will share more details later“, they said, ensuring that Michel Ancel, the creator of Rayman, is part of the team as a consultant to ensure consistency in the universe. It’s not that he doesn’t want to participate as a director, but he retired from the industry in 2020 after being investigated for toxic behavior (which, of course, he continues to deny to this day).
The project may never move beyond this first phase, but frankly, just the idea of being able to play with a new Rayman is already exciting, given that they usually take the opportunity to unleash all the creativity they can’t in other games. The word “eager” falls short, and if the Prince of Persia team has been able to find another home in Rayman, it’s possible that Ubisoft will once again save itself from obscurity. They have more than one life, certainly. Look, just like Rayman.
