When Jason Statham starred in “The Meg” in 2018, the movie performed so well at the box office that many believed Warner would go for a sequel. And, as expected, they did. “The Meg 2: The Trench” is hitting theaters today, and the company has doubled its efforts to make it an even more action-packed blockbuster than the previous one.

“Megalodon 2 has just been released on Rotten Tomatoes, but has it won over the critics? The first part has a 46% critics’ approval and a 43% audience score. These are very low numbers, but they are typical in this genre of action, horror, and monsters. However, the second part’s scores are even worse.”

What does the review of Megalodon 2: The Pit say?

Megalodon 2: The Trench initially premiered with a 0% positive reviews based on 6 reviews. However, that number has grown to 23% positive reviews based on 60 reviews. These are very, very low numbers and leave it far behind the first part, even though the first part had already received negative feedback. We still have to wait and see what the audience thinks of the film.

Here are some reactions from critics to Megalodon 2:

“This sequel wastes its first hour with dull exposition and incoherent action before finally, finally unleashing its underwater killing machines on an unsuspecting resort” – The Film Verdict

“It’s a strange viewing experience. It has a second half that serves to redeem the flavorless first half” – STL Today

“This horrible summer catastrophe couldn’t even provide a reasonable amount of cheesy fun, even if it tried.” – Screen Zealots

“An uneven, stupid, over-the-top, and violent movie. That said, I can’t hate it. It’s a B-movie to the core, but with millions of dollars behind it, a co-production between the United States and China, to maximize worldwide profits.” – Me gusta el cine
