There is very little time left until the One Piece live action arrives on Netflix. At the end of August, we will be able to watch the entire first season of the adaptation of Eiichiro Oda’s anime, and finally, we will be able to find out whether it will be a success as the platform hopes or a failure, as was the case with the Cowboy Bebop live action.

Regardless of the outcome, it is clear that Netflix has put a lot of effort into making the series successful, and the proof of that is that Eiichiro Oda himself has announced his involvement and has stated that he is proud of the result. However, the One Piece anime is so long that it seems never-ending, so how much will this first season cover?

We already did the calculations on how long it would take for the live-action to catch up to the current moment in the series, but let’s start from the beginning. The synopses of the first episodes of One Piece have just been revealed, so now we know exactly what we will be able to see in each of them. Let’s take a look at what they say exactly.

Chapter 1 – Romance Dawn

As the journey of the young pirate Monkey D. Luffy begins, he dreams of finding the One Piece, and it all starts when he sets free a young boy named Koby. In Shells Town, Luffy meets Roronoa Zoro and Nami, and the three of them join forces in search of their destiny.

Chapter 2 – The Straw Hat Man

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami find themselves imprisoned on an island invaded by the crazy pirate clown, Buggy. Meanwhile, Koby joins the marines and proves his worth.

Chapter 3 – Don’t tell stories

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami land in Syrup Village, where they meet Usopp and Kaya, a sick heiress taken care of by three employees in her mansion. With the help of Koby, Vice Admiral Garp sets out to find Luffy.

Chapter 4 – Here come the pirates

Luffy, Zoro, and Nami make their way through Kaya’s mansion, which has now been turned into a prison. Usopp seeks the help of Koby, Helmeppo, and the marines. Meanwhile, Luffy finally obtains the ship of his dreams as Garp approaches.

Chapter 5 – Food at the Baratie!

Luffy and his crew test their ability to fight together at sea. They arrive at the Baratie, a floating restaurant, where they meet Sanji, a young chef who loves good food. A duel at the docks surprises the group.

Chapter 6 – The chef and the boy with the chores

The band is ambushed by a threat no one sees coming. After a tough battle at the Baratie, Sanji finally decides to pursue his dreams, while another crew member reveals their true intentions.

Chapter 7 – The girl with the sawshark tattoo

The crew comes to the aid of a member in desperate need of a family.

Chapter 8 – The worst of the East

A new pirate crew is born.

Taking a look at all the episodes, it is clear that we will be able to witness the entire evolution of the crew during the East Blue saga, although it is still not clear if we will see them advancing towards the Grand Line in this same season or, as it seems, we will witness it at the beginning of the next season.

Either way, it is interesting to see how they are adapting the series and how they integrate storylines like Garp and Koby’s to give them continuity. It is evident that the series is in good hands… we just have to wait and see if the execution lives up to the expectations.
