Ford’s commitment to electrification is gaining momentum not only in commercial vehicles but also on race tracks around the globe.

Their E-Transit vans continue to electrify fleets and rack up impressive sales figures, while their electric SuperVan is making waves by setting records in competitive racing.

The SuperVan, which boasts a staggering 1,400 horsepower, recently established a new benchmark at Mount Panorama, completing the lap in just 1:56.3247. This accomplishment makes it the fastest closed-wheel vehicle, electric vehicle, and commercial model to ever conquer the circuit.

Driven by renowned racer Romain Dumas, a two-time Le Mans champion and the Pike’s Peak record holder, the SuperVan’s performance has drawn significant attention.

Earlier this year, the SuperVan finished second overall and first in the Open Class at the Pike’s Peak International Hill Climb, trailing just seven seconds behind the winning Wolf TSC-FS prototype.

The van’s impressive aerodynamic design generates a remarkable 4,400 lbs. of downforce at speeds of 150 mph, demonstrating its formidable capabilities. Ford has hinted at further developments for the SuperVan, with a spokesperson stating, “We do have more plans for it” yet details remain confidential.

The company’s eagerness to showcase the SuperVan’s potential hints at an ambitious future. With the vehicle’s success at Mount Panorama and Pike’s Peak, speculation is rising regarding a subsequent iteration, likely dubbed ‘SuperVan 4.3,’ which promises to climb the iconic mountain again this summer.

Given Ford’s serious investment in motorsports, the community is buzzing with excitement over what might come next. The announcement of additional features and competitions seems imminent, setting the stage for continued electrification in both commercial and racing domains.
