Before Osama bin Laden brought down the Twin Towers and ushered the world into a new era where terrorism became a daily concern, there was already someone terrorizing the Western world and, specifically, the United States. His name was Imad Mughniyeh, and his country of origin was Lebanon.

While his story may not be as well-known as Bin Laden’s, there is no doubt that Mughniyeh earned his place as one of the greatest targets in US history. He was the terrorist who killed the most people in the 20th century and was so elusive that he earned the nickname “the ghost.” Now, his story has come to life in the form of a series: Ghosts of Beirut.

Ghosts of Beirut, the series on the most wanted terrorist

Ghosts of Beirut is a four-episode miniseries available on SkyShowtime that explores the pursuit of Imad Mughniyeh. The elusive terrorist mastermind evaded his adversaries for over two decades, taking terrorism to new deadly heights by turning anonymous suicide bombers into public martyrs.

As CIA and Mossad agents were haunted by Imad’s actions, they unexpectedly join forces in a high-stakes international manhunt to finally locate and eliminate the man known as “the ghost.” Imad went to great lengths, including undergoing plastic surgeries, to change his appearance and continue his reign of terror.

Created by Avi Issacharoff and Lior Raz, Ghosts of Beirut stars Navid Negahban, Iddo Goldberg, Ned Bellamy, Yuval Scharf, and Hisham Suliman. Undoubtedly, it is a gripping narrative that serves both as entertainment and as a means to understand one of the darkest chapters in the Western world’s history.
