In early February, Google decided that “Bard” was no longer cool and renamed its artificial intelligence to “Gemini”, the umbrella brand for all its AI products. But that’s not all, the company also launched a new subscription plan called “AI Premium” in Google One that gives you VIP access to Gemini Advanced.
The thing is, before, if you had a Google One plan of 5 TB or more, Google left you wanting and did not give you access to Gemini Advanced, something quite strange considering the high cost of the subscription. But the company must have changed its mind, and now it gives you access to Gemini Advanced until July 31, 2024, and for free if you have a plan of 5 TB or more.
In the United States, the 5 TB plan costs $25 per month, only $5 more than the 2 TB AI Premium plan, while in the EU it is €25 per month for 5 TB, just €3 more than the 2 TB AI Premium plan. However, if you wanted to share your account with friends and family, we have bad news: just like with the 2 TB plan, access to Gemini Advanced is only and exclusively for you.
This change comes right after Google removed the 200 GB storage option to give all the spotlight to the new 2 TB AI Premium level. The most curious thing of all is that Google only mentions this novelty briefly on the support page of Google One AI Premium.
