The 2023 Oscars Ceremony is finally back. The movie party organized by the Hollywood Academy delights us, year after year, with iconic moments like Will Smith‘s famous slap last year. With his return, they have not left any similar moment, but in return has distributed some very interesting and well-deserved awards.

The first winner of the gala was Guillermo del Toro. The Mexican director who already took it all in 2018 with The Shape of Water has once again lifted a statuette by winning Best Animated Feature. The award was an open secret, since it was quickly placed as a favorite, ahead of Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

An ode to animated films

The director has sent a very interesting and emotional message about animation and its importance. Without a doubt, he is the best person to talk about the subject:

“Animation is cinema, it’s not a genre. It is to get to the next level, please help us, keep it present in your conversations. Animation is giving soul to something that has no soul. It is the perfect vehicle to address the big questions of the universe.”
