On January 30, the popular action RPG game Hogwarts Legacy will launch official modding support for PC through the CurseForge platform, which has sparked mixed reactions among console players. Many of these users have expressed their frustration on social media, feeling that they are being excluded from additional content that will only be available to PC players.
Console players, dissatisfied with the decision
Console players have expressed their discontent, highlighting that despite the inclusion of mod support in other titles like Skyrim and Baldur’s Gate 3, their platform still has security restrictions that limit this functionality. This fact raised questions about whether fair comparisons are really being offered between the experiences of console and PC users. “And what do the other platforms have…? Seriously?” said a user on Twitter, questioning the exclusivity of the update for PC.
Although the developers of Hogwarts Legacy, Avalanche, have continuously improved the console experience since its release, such as a recent update that allowed players to equip a prison uniform, not all users are satisfied. Some long for more creative modding features, like the ability to fly through the skies on a vacuum cleaner, as shown in a video about the new update, illustrating consumer expectations.
Additionally, the controversy surrounding J.K. Rowling and her stances on gender identity has further complicated the perception of the game within the Harry Potter community. As the discussion on inclusivity in this universe progresses, support for PC modding adds another point of debate about the future of Hogwarts Legacy and its community.
